About Our Foodbank
Manchester Youth Empowerment Club runs a community foodbank supporting local families, young people, and individuals facing short-term hardship across Greater Manchester, providing nutritious food parcels, basic toiletries when available, and friendly signposting to practical help; referrals from schools, GPs, faith groups, and support workers are welcomed alongside self-referrals, and we operate with clear safeguarding and data standards so people can access timely support with dignity.
The Heart Of Our Mission
Our foodbank is volunteer-run and powered by community donations. We welcome people with warmth and dignity, keep queues short, and protect data and privacy. Simple checks help us prioritise those most in need. Every parcel is a bridge to stability, not a label.
Providing Nourishment
Parcels cover 3–5 days with balanced staples and fresh items when available. We offer halal and vegetarian options, baby supplies when stock allows, and basic toiletries. Choice matters, so we swap items where we can and add simple recipe cards to help families stretch budgets.
Supporting Our Community
FareShare has been instrumental to MYEC’s foodbank, supplying regular surplus food that cuts waste and keeps our shelves stocked. Alongside parcels, we signpost to benefits advice, debt support, employment help, and youth programmes. Volunteers follow safeguarding procedures and check-in with visitors so nobody falls through the cracks.
